Kodaiji_leaves of autumn are reflected on the pond. It's awesome!

In autumn we enjoy viewing red or yellow colored autumn leaves.

There are many good places in Japan.If you are interested in the reflection of the autumn leaves on water, one of the best places is Kodaiji temple in Kyoto.

・Kodaiji temple
This temple was established in 1606 by Kita-no-Mandokoro. Kitano-no-Mandokoro is also known as ‘Nene’. 

She build this temple for memory of her husband. Her husband is famous warrior, Toyotomi Hideyoshi (1536-1598).

・illumination
Usually Kodaiji temple is opened 9:00-17:30 (Last entry is at 17:00).

But during limited period in spring, summer and autumn, you can taste mystical beauty of the illuminated Temple from sunset to night.

We have ever visited Kodaiji temple after sunset in autumn in the end of November. I’ll introduce some details.

・light-up (illumination)
Hashintei garden. Some patterns are drawed by the sand.

You can’t miss main pond,臥龍池 (Garyu pond).

Walking from here a while, you can also see a bamboo forest. These are also mystical beauty.

In case of 2017 October 21th-December 10th
from after sunset to 9:30pm (entrance closing)

○From Hankyu Kawaramachi Station or Keihan Shijo Station,city bus 207
　　→ Get off at Higashiyama Yasui and walk east 5 min.

○ From JR Kyoto Station or Kintetsu Kyoto Station,city bus 206(Higashiyama direction)
　　→ Get off at Higashiyama Yasui and walk east 5 min.

○ From JR Kyoto Station or Kintetsu Kyoto Station,15 min by taxi.

※ Due to the narrow streets and lack of parking space, please refrain from comming by private automobile.　

・Admission
Adult: 600yen (Included 掌美術館(Syo museum))
junior high school or high school: 250yen

高台寺(Kodaiji temple), 掌美術館(Syo museum) and 圓徳院(Entokuin) 3 places combination ticket: 900yen

If you buy combination ticket, I recommend buying Syo museum or Entokuin (Because there are not so many people)

・Notes:
You have to wait in a long line to enter Kodaiji temple. I don’t remember well but we had to wait for 40minutes – 60minutes. 

It is very cold at night in Kyoto in the end of November. You had better wear warm cloths.

Although Japanese climate has been changing gradually for the global warming, Japan has four distinct seasons because of seasonal winds.

If you visit Japan in autumn, you should enjoy red and yellow autumn leaves.
